Dyno Tuning Services - Standalone & COBB ProTune

Pre-Dyno inspection (2hrs @ shop rate)

This is an extensive inspection that will go through the entire vehicle's powertrain, electronics, cooling system, intake, exhaust, plumbing, etc...  This is mandatory for dyno time.  The reason behind the inspection is simply because we want to put out the absolute highest quality.  We often find vehicles that have incorrectly plumbed wastegate solenoids, incorrect spark plugs, boost leaks, etc...  If we encounter any issues during the tuning process, we must address the issues before completing the tune.  If your vehicle needs to be removed from the dyno to perform any repairs (some work can be done while mounted) you will need to cover the cost of the repair (hourly) as well as another dyno dismount/mount to continue tuning.

Dyno mount / dismount (250$)

We use a 1500HP Axle hub dyno that was purchased brand new in 2016.  Why?  For reasons such as these.  A hub dyno replaces your wheels and is incapable of having these issues.

  • Mount vehicle to dyno (2WD)
  • Connect dyno electronics (our own high end sensors, MAP, RPM, Knock, AFR, Fuel Pressure ETC...)

We use a PLEX Knock Monitor V2 to monitor knock both through audio as well as high tech audio filtering and software.  We are capable of logging and graphing knock against engine power, speed, Air Fuel Ratio, etc...  Virtually any engine parameter that can be graphed.  This allows us to tune your car in a manner that is both safe, efficient, and powerful without compromise.  Relying on your "gut" feeling is reckless, as we would estimate that 8/10 engine failures in turbocharged engines are related to poor quality tunes which induce knock.  Simply "listening" for knock doesn't really suffice either.  When we're pulling to 8,000RPM and exceeding 200km/h on the dyno, there is a lot of noise and distraction.  The knock monitor allows us to set thresholds as well as alarms, which are triggered to alert us while we concentrate on the rest of the important data that is displayed while we calibrate your maps whether it be steady state or ramp runs.

RE-Tuning Running Vehicle (For cars previously tuned by Boost Factory with new parts installed requiring new mapping) (350$)

  • Set base timing
  • Set base fuel pressure
  • Verify calibration and configuration of inputs and outputs
  • Base map fuel and ignition timing maps and trims
  • Calibrate idle map, closed loop control
  • Cold start tuning / hot start tuning
  • Transient throttle enrichment calibration
  • Set fail safes, power reducers and limiters where applicable
  • Part throttle tuning for fuel economy and driveability
  • WOT tuning for maximum power and safe operation
  • Closed loop boost control
  • Closed loop idle control
  • Closed loop fuel trim control
  • Knock sensor calibration and configuration, set thresholds (We also use PLEX knock monitor V2 with individual cylinder knock detection)
  • Check and read spark plugs during and after tuning sessions for individual cylinder corrections (knock, lean / rich cylinders)

When you collect your car from Boost Factory, it should run similarly to as it would from factory, as much as the parts installed will allow it to.  If you have 290 degree cams, and refused our recommendations to install an idle air control valve - you may have starting and idling issues.

Your car will be tuned with several variables in mind;

  •  How comfortable we are pushing it
  •  What you intend to use the vehicle for, as well as how willing you are to push it harder
  •  The parts used and their own individual limitations
  •  The quality of fuel (knock limit, detonation)
