PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS UNDER $1000.00
Just starting a fresh build or so deep into a build that it feels like you only have smaller mods left to do? Either way, today’s Boosted Education topic will hopefully help spark some ideas for your next mod under $1000.00
Cold Air Intakes:
Upgrading your intake from the OEM system is not going to give you substantial horsepower gains, but it will increase your driving experience through sound! We all love to hear our cars while driving them, and an intake is going to provide those induction noises we all love! If you have a naturally aspirated engine, this is going to benefit you the most. Your engine is going to breathe easier and you are likely to notice an increase in throttle response. The majority of Cold Air Intake systems are going to come in under that $1000 budget. If you don’t see a Cold Air Intake for your chassis on our website, please reach out and we can most likely bring it in for you.
Exhaust Upgrade:
On the topic of enhancing your driving experience through sound, a new exhaust with a tasteful volume increase will absolutely be an upgrade. Similar to an upgraded Intake, an aftermarket exhaust will allow you to hear an audible response to each throttle input you give your car! Whether that's acceleration or deceleration noise, it’s all very satisfying! Depending on your taste, it’s important not to make your car too loud. You don’t want to be discouraged from driving your car due to it being too loud to start early or late in the day, and you definitely don’t want it so loud that you’re irritating other motorists and/or making donations to your local police department. Tasteful volume is key to enjoying this modification.
Granted, if you have a dedicated track car, then you have the ability to raise the volume a bit. Many race tracks do have sound limits, so volume is still something to be mindful of. Many Axle-Back Systems, some Cat-Backs or even just a Muffler upgrade are all likely to be under $1000. For any Intake and Exhaust modifications, it is important to note that while the part itself is under $1000.00, whenever we are changing the way the engine flows air (Intake and/or Exhaust), the engine fueling should be adjusted to maintain ideal Air-Fuel Ratio’s at all times. This means you may need to purchase an Air-Fuel Ratio Gauge and Wideband along with Standalone ECU. Then have your ECU calibrated on the Dyno to ensure the engine is operating in safe and efficient parameters. We carry ECUMaster, Haltech, and Link ECU’s and can calibrate those ECU’s along with Motec & Emtron.
